Selected projects will receive SSF-grants maximized to SEK 500,000 (including overheads). The grants are to be used exclusively for:

• Covering costs for salaries, travel, and consultants directly connected to the preparation of an HEU application.

✅ Eligibility Criteria

All the following criteria must be fulfilled for SSF to consider an application as eligible for evaluation. Non-eligible applications will be rejected:

1. Employment Requirement:

   • The applicant must be employed at least 50% by a Swedish university, university college, or research institute capable of assuming coordination responsibility during the grant period and the proposed HEU-project period.

2. Previous Research Experience:

   • The applicant must have been the main PI of a granted individual research project worth at least MSEK 5 in total during the last five years. This grant can come from any funding organization (SSF, EU, or others).

3. HEU Application Role:

   • The applicant must be involved in an HEU application as Project Coordinator for a Pillar 2 Project (Global Challenges & European Industrial Competitiveness) in the fields of natural science, technology, or medicine.

4. Original Applications:

   • Only original (or Stage 1 in a multistage HEU evaluation) applications targeting HEU Calls published in HEU work plans are eligible.

5. Eligible Costs:

   • Costs exclusively arising between January 1, 2025 – December 31, 2025 for salaries, travel, and consultants directly connected to the HEU application are eligible.
   • Costs for preparatory data collection, investigations, research, or expenses outside this date range are not accepted.
