The Prince Claus Building Beyond Program is a multi-disciplinary initiative that supports creative practices exploring how communities relate to each other and public space in cities. It creates opportunities for collectively imagined realities.

This program brings together 9 mid-career creatives (± 7-15 years of relevant professional experience) working across diverse mediums, approaches, and interpretations of the overarching theme. Supported by 3 Senior Fellows, the cohort will collaborate over the course of 9 months to enhance individual practices and facilitate conversations between participants, networks, and external practitioners.

🎁 Benefits of Prince Claus Building Beyond Program

Participants in the program will receive the following benefits:

• Award of €10,000 and guidance from Senior Fellows to develop a concept for a body of work outlined in their application.
• Flexibility in using the grant, with the participant’s proposed project serving as a baseline for the program's content.

✅ Eligibility Criteria

Applications are invited from individual, mid-career artists and cultural practitioners who meet the following criteria:

• Location: Must be from, live, and work in eligible countries on the African continent. (Note: The eligible countries list has been expanded from previous years.)
• Practice: Must have an individual artistic practice related to architecture, design, spatial practice, public space, and urban communities.
  • Interdisciplinary practices are welcome.
  • Arts managers, facilitators, academic researchers, or others without an individual artistic practice are not eligible.
• Experience: Must have ±7-15 years of relevant professional experience.
• Language: Must be able to communicate in English, as it is the primary language for the program.
