The Pfizer Research Grant supports studies addressing critical knowledge gaps in pediatric pneumococcal disease in Saudi Arabia. Despite over 20 years of pneumococcal conjugate vaccine (PCV) use, gaps remain in areas such as:

  • Serotype distribution
  • Disease burden
  • Antimicrobial resistance

  • Funding Amount: Individual projects requesting up to 400,000 USD will be considered. Projects exceeding this amount may be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
  • Project Duration: Maximum project length is 3 years.
  • Award amounts include:
    • Direct costs
    • Institutional overhead costs (capped at 28% per Pfizer policy)
    • Indirect costs

Eligibility Criteria ✅

To qualify for this grant, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • The institution and Principal Investigator (PI) must be based in Saudi Arabia.
  • Only organizations are eligible to receive grants. Multicenter collaboration is encouraged.
  • Individuals or medical practice groups (e.g., independent groups of physicians not affiliated with a hospital, academic institution, or professional society) are not eligible.
  • If the project involves multiple departments or institutions, all institutions must have a relevant role, and the requesting organization must play a key role in the project.
  • The PI must hold one of the following degrees:
    • Medical or postdoctoral degree (MD, PhD, or equivalent)
    • Advanced nursing degree (BSN with MS/PhD)
    • Degree in Pharmacy
  • The applicant must be the PI or an authorized designee (e.g., PI’s research coordinator).
  • The PI must be an employee or contractor of the requesting organization.
  • The requesting organization must be legally able to receive award funding directly from Pfizer International LLC. Applicants are strongly encouraged to confirm this with their organization prior to applying.
