The Program for Excellence in African Research (PEAR) is a fully-funded, 9-day STEM summer program organized by students from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Applications are now open for the 2025 edition of this exciting opportunity.

📖 About PEAR Summer Research Program

The PEAR Summer Research Program will take place from August 18 - 27, 2025, at Greensprings School, Anthony Campus, Lagos, Nigeria. The program brings together 30 students to work in teams and build hands-on tech projects using Raspberry Pi kits.

Led by MIT students Tony Odhiambo and Emmanuela Ilok, the program aims to inspire a new generation of African problem-solvers through practical learning, mentorship, and innovation.

✅ Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the PEAR Summer Research Program, applicants must meet the following requirements:

Be a current senior secondary school student (SS1 - SS3/Year 10 - 11).
Be able to commute daily to and from Greensprings School, Lagos, for the duration of the program.
Have proficiency in high-school level math and physics.
Demonstrate a strong interest in STEM and problem-solving.
Commit to attending all 9 days of the program (9 AM - 5 PM daily, with Sunday off).
Show enthusiasm for learning and collaboration.
