🎯 About the Fellowship

The Leadership in Government Fellowship is designed for individuals who have served in senior-level, full-time government positions in the United States and its territories, including city, county, tribal, state, and federal levels. The fellowship provides an opportunity for public servants to:

  • Reflect on their government service.
  • Expand their professional networks.
  • Advance ideas and approaches to social change.
  • Contribute to public dialogue with their expertise.

💰 Benefits

Fellows will receive:

  • A stipend ranging from $115,000 to $160,000, depending on the percentage of time committed to the project.
  • Projects can last either 12 or 18 months.

✅ Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Have served in senior-level, full-time government positions in the United States and its territories.
  • Recently completed their government service (within the last two years) or will have completed their term before the fellowship begins.
  • Held a chief executive role or senior management position in their agency or office.
  • Open to individuals from all political parties or ideologies, especially those who bring innovative ideas for social change.

Successful applicants will demonstrate:

  • A keen interest in reflecting on their government service.
  • A passion for solving problems and implementing policy.
  • A desire to advance ideas beyond their former jurisdictions.
  • A commitment to injecting their work into public dialogue.

📋 Application Process

Applicants are required to:

  1. Provide basic contact information and answer questions about their government experience.
  2. Submit a proposal addressing eight questions along with their resume.
  3. Register with the application system, allowing them to save progress before submitting the final application.

Pre-Application Inquiry

  • A brief description (no more than 200 words) of the proposed project.
  • Background information on the applicant.
