Nemetschek Innovation Award 2026

The Nemetschek Innovation Award 2026 is dedicated to groundbreaking innovations in Artificial Intelligence (AI) for the Built World throughout the entire lifecycle of built facilities. This prestigious award is funded by the Nemetschek Innovationsstiftung (NIS) and organized by the Georg Nemetschek Institute at the Technical University of Munich (TUM GNI).

The Nemetschek Innovation Award aims to recognize application-oriented innovations. Submissions are assessed by a Special Award Panel consisting of international referees appointed by the President of TUM.

Eligible Topics:

Candidates are invited to present software applications in the pre-product stage for the analysis, creation, construction, operation, renovation, and management of buildings and civil infrastructures. Topics of particular interest include:

• Knowledge-enhanced decision-making
• AI-supported process automation

The Nemetschek Innovation Award offers the following prizes:

• First Place: €100,000
  (Note: The first-place prize is only awarded for epoch-making innovations and is not necessarily granted in each round of the awards.)
• Second Place: €60,000
• Third Place: €40,000

✅ Eligibility Criteria

To participate in the competition, applicants must meet the following requirements:

• Be undergraduate, graduate, or doctoral students from universities worldwide.
• Be registered at a university or comparable institution at the time of application.
• Completion of a degree, doctorate, or PhD after admission to the competition does not affect eligibility.
• Teams are encouraged to apply. There is no lower or upper limit on team size.
  (Note: Team members must share the prize money among themselves.)

Declaration of Intention to Submit:

• Submission Format: Electronic submission via email to contact.gni@tum.de
• Late submissions will not be considered.

Required Documents:

Applicants must submit the following documents in PDF format:

1. Cover letter, signed by all team members.
2. Contact information, including official email addresses of each team member at their university.
3. Proof of registration at the university (e.g., registration certificate) for each team member.
4. CVs of all team members.
5. A maximum 5-page sketch describing the planned submission. The description should:
   • Highlight the innovative character of the planned submission.
   • Specify its relation to Artificial Intelligence and applications for the Built World (architecture, engineering, construction, operation).
   • Include text, figures, and references to supplementary material (e.g., links to publications, videos, or code repositories).
     (Note: Supplementary material may not necessarily be considered for eligibility decisions.)
