📖 About the Scholarship

The NDDC Local Master’s Postgraduate Scholarship Programme is designed to:

  • Equip young people from the Niger Delta region with relevant skills for effective participation in the Federal Government’s Local Content Programme.
  • Foster global competitiveness by supporting academic excellence and professional development in key disciplines.

Eligible Disciplines:

Applicants must hold a relevant Bachelor’s Degree in one of the following fields:

  • Agricultural Sciences
  • Architecture
  • Engineering
  • Environmental Sciences
  • Geosciences
  • Humanities
  • Information Technology
  • Law
  • Management & Social Sciences
  • Medical Sciences

✅ Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for the scholarship, applicants must:

  • Be indigenes of the Niger Delta Region.
  • Be not older than 40 years of age.
  • Possess one of the following qualifications:
    • First Class, Second Class Upper, or Second Class Lower Bachelor’s Degree.
    • Higher National Diploma (HND) with a minimum of Upper Credit and a Postgraduate Diploma (PGD).

📝 Application Process

Selection Process:

  1. Initial Application:
    Complete and submit an online application via the Commission’s website.

  2. Preliminary Shortlisting:
    Candidates will be shortlisted based on:

    • WASSCE/NECO results.
    • Undergraduate degree classification (e.g., First Class, Second Class Upper/Lower, PGD).
    • Valid Local Government Identification.
  3. Computer-Based Test (CBT):
    Shortlisted candidates will take a CBT at designated centers in Akwa Ibom, Delta, and Rivers States. Candidates must indicate their preferred zone during registration.

  4. Minimum Test Score:
    Candidates must achieve a minimum score of 70% in the CBT to qualify for the next stage.

  5. Further Shortlisting:
    Candidates meeting the minimum test score will be shortlisted for an oral interview.

  6. Final Verification:
    Verification will be conducted through respective Local Government Areas (LGAs) and Community Development Committees (CDCs).

Required Documents:

Applicants must attach the following documents to their online application:

  1. Recent passport photograph.
  2. Local Government Identification Letter.
  3. Postgraduate admission letter from a recognized Nigerian university.
  4. Relevant degrees from recognized universities.
  5. NYSC Discharge/Exemption Certificate.

Upon successful submission, a registration number will be assigned. Applicants are advised to print a hard copy of the acknowledgment for future reference.

⚠️ Important Notes

  • The NDDC will not communicate with candidates who are not shortlisted for the CBT, oral interview, or final selection.
  • Preference will be given to candidates from Oil Producing Host/Communities/Local Government Areas, provided they meet the approved cut-off mark.
  • Deferment, change of institution, and course are not permitted.
  • The NDDC reserves the sole discretion to select candidates based on the stated criteria. The decision of the Commission is final.
