The National Geographic Society and The Climate Pledge aim to support a global community of Explorers by funding projects focused on climate resilience and solutions. These projects will create a storytelling legacy that inspires business leaders and policymakers to take action for a better world.
This funding opportunity is open to both existing Explorers and individuals not yet part of the Explorer community.

- Applicants may request funding of up to $100,000.
- For individuals with five years or less of experience, it is recommended to request up to $20,000.
- Budgets of successful proposals must include reasonable and well-justified costs directly required to complete the project.
- Awarded funds can be used over the course of two years.
- Applications must explicitly state the plan for evaluating the impact of the proposed work.
✅ Requirements
- Storytellers who have lived in or have significant experience working in the communities where their proposed stories are focused will be prioritized.
- Applicants must demonstrate established collaborative relationships with local organizations and stakeholders in these communities.
- A record of successful media projects is required, and applicants must submit a portfolio (e.g., website) as part of their application packet.

- Applications must be submitted through the online portal.
- Email or mail submissions will not be accepted.
- All applications must be submitted in English, although English does not need to be the applicant's primary language.
- The individual responsible for carrying out the project must write the application and be listed as the project leader.
- Applicants may submit a proposal as a project lead for only one project.
