This program offers international creators the opportunity to stay, engage in creation, and conduct research activities in Tokyo during its artist-in-residence programs in 2026 and 2027.

General Requirements

• Candidates from all countries are eligible.

International Creator Residency Program

• Must reside outside of Japan.
• 5 years or more of experience in their specialized area.
• Sufficient English communication skills.
• Duo applications are eligible if at least one creator resides outside Japan.
• Students are ineligible, except for Ph.D. candidates.

Curator Residency Program

• Must reside outside of Japan.
• 3 years or more of experience in their specialized area.
• Sufficient English communication skills.
• Duo applications are ineligible.
• Students are ineligible, except for Ph.D. candidates.

Research Residency Program

• Open to both international and local creators.
• Focuses on research in arts and culture in Tokyo.
• Applicants must submit a strong research proposal.
• Students are generally ineligible, except for Ph.D. candidates.
