The top three candidates will be announced at a ceremony during the Bloorview Research Institute (BRI) Symposium on November 25-26, 2025. The awards are as follows:

  • 1st Place: $3,000
  • 2nd Place: $2,000
  • 3rd Place: $1,000

The Pursuit Awards are made possible by the generous contributions of The Ward Family Foundation, Holland Bloorview Foundation donors, and the Bloorview Research Institute.

✅ Eligibility Criteria

You are encouraged to apply if your PhD research focuses on pediatric disability, and you meet one of the following criteria:

  • Current PhD student (less than six months away from defense).
  • Postdoctoral trainee (within one year of receiving PhD).
  • Recent graduate (within one year of receiving PhD).

📝 Selection Criteria

Finalists will be evaluated based on the following:

  1. Academic Excellence:

    • Academic training, experience, and awards of distinction.
  2. Research Potential:

    • Originality, critical thinking, innovation, and the ability to influence practice, policy, or research in childhood disability.
  3. Knowledge Translation:

    • Efforts to engage partners, disseminate findings, and collaborate across disciplines.
  4. Research Productivity:

    • Quality and quantity of publications and presentations.

Finalist Expectations:

  • Finalists are required to pre-record their presentations for the BRI Research Symposium on November 25-26, 2025.
  • Participation in the event is mandatory.
