The CAP Foundation’s Global Pathology Development Grant was established to support organizations and individuals working to promote pathology services in under-resourced areas worldwide.
🎁 Benefits of the Grant
- Provides funding to organizations and individuals with limited budgets who are actively promoting pathology services in under-resourced areas globally.
- Offers up to $10,000 USD to support impactful, sustainable, and accretive global projects. These projects may focus on:
- Education and training
- Patient care

- Enhanced technology and laboratory diagnostics
✅ Eligibility Criteria
The following individuals/groups are encouraged to apply:
- Global pathology/health care organizations:
- Preference is given to 501(c)(3) organizations in the US or charitable non-profit organizations outside the US.
- Pathologists actively engaged in advancing pathology and pathology services in under-resourced areas worldwide.
- CAP Fellows or CAP International Fellows:
- CAP membership is preferred but not required.
Ineligibility:
- Applicants unable to meet the above criteria are not eligible.
- Members of the following groups are not eligible to serve as the principal investigator for this grant:
- CAP Foundation Board of Directors
- Foundation committee members
- CAP Board members
- Candidates for elected CAP or CAP Foundation office
📝 Application Process
Required Materials:
- Application Form
- Project Proposal:
- Project title
- Executive summary (1 page)
- Detailed narrative (max 3,000 words) outlining:
- Goals
- How the project supports building, sustaining, and expanding pathology services
- Impact on patient care
- Detailed budget (exclusions: personal travel and indirect expenses)
- Confirmation that the project can be completed within 1-2 years
- Letter from Sponsoring Institution:
- Identifying the investigator’s practice location and granting permission to pursue the project if awarded the grant.
- Curriculum Vitae (CV):
- Include CVs for all team members (limit: 5 pages per person; biographical sketch format acceptable).
- Photo:
- High-quality photo (1+ MB, color, neutral background, no selfies).
- Preferred: Face or face & shoulders, with or without a lab coat.
