π About Fulbright Sri Lanka TEA Awards
The Fulbright TEA Program brings approximately 160 outstanding international secondary-level schoolteachers from across the globe to participate in a six-week, non-degree academic program at a U.S. university. The program focuses on:
- General academic seminars on new teaching methodologies.
- Student-centered learning techniques.
- Content-based instruction.
- Lesson planning.
- Instructional technology training for teachers.
π Benefits of Fulbright Sri Lanka TEA Awards
Awardees will receive the following benefits:
- Pre-departure orientation program in Colombo.
- Round-trip economy class air travel from Sri Lanka to the host institution in the U.S.
- Housing (generally shared with other program fellows) and meals.
- Health insurance, including accident and medical/sickness coverage (excluding pre-existing conditions).
- Allowance for incidentals.
- Baggage allowance on the return flight.
- End-of-program workshop in Washington, D.C.
β Fulbright Sri Lanka TEA Awards Requirements
To be eligible for this award, applicants must:
- Be a current, full-time Sri Lankan secondary-level schoolteacher (grades 6β12) of English, English as a Foreign Language (EFL), math, science, foreign language, social studies, journalism, communications, or special education in these subjects at institutions serving primarily a local population.
- Be a Sri Lankan citizen who has continuously resided in Sri Lanka for a minimum of 2 years immediately prior to the award application deadline.
- Have earned a Bachelorβs degree or equivalent educational qualification.
- Have completed a minimum of 5 years of teaching by the start of the Fulbright TEA program.
- Be proficient in English.
- Have not previously received a Fulbright TEA award.
- Not be applying for or holding a permanent resident visa (Green Card) in the United States, not be a dual U.S./Sri Lanka citizen, and not hold a work or resident visa in another country.
- Commit to residing in Sri Lanka for a minimum of 2 years following the completion of the grant.

Required Documents:
Applicants must submit the following:
- Completed application form.
- Hand-signed privacy policy statement.
- Institutional Support and Reference Form, completed by a supervisor.
- Leave Approval Form, signed by the school director.
- Copy of passport or photo identification.
Important Notes:
- All applications must be complete, clearly filled out, and submitted according to official guidelines.
- Applications that do not meet eligibility or documentation requirements will not be considered.
