The FIAS Fellowship Programme provides scholars worldwide the opportunity to spend one academic year (10-month fellowship) at one of the seven Institutes of Advanced Studies in France:

  • Iméra – IAS Aix Marseille Université
  • CYAS - Cergy
  • Le Studium - Loire Valley (Orléans-Tours)
  • Collegium de Lyon
  • Mak’it - Montpellier
  • IAS - Nantes
  • IAS – Paris

🎁 Benefits of the Fellowship

  1. Net Living Allowance: A minimum of €2,200 per month (take-home pay).
  2. Flexible Contractual Options:
    • Option 1: Work contracts with French national insurance schemes (unemployment, pension, health, and accident insurance).
    • Option 2: Paid leave for researchers with existing contracts at their home institutions, including a monthly top-up of €200 for private insurance.
  3. Accommodation or Relocation Support: Assistance with administrative, professional, and logistical arrangements, such as finding accommodation and language courses.
  4. Research and Training Budget: An annual budget of €2,500 for scientific events and skill acquisition.
  5. Travel Expenses: One round trip from the fellow's home country.
  6. Working Conditions: Access to office space, IT services, meeting rooms, conference rooms, and research libraries.

✅ Eligibility Criteria

Degree & Experience

  • Applicants must hold a doctoral degree and have at least 2 years of full-time research experience after the degree. (PhD training is not counted as experience.)

Mobility

  • Open to researchers from all countries and nationalities.
  • Applicants must comply with the MSCA mobility rule: They must not have resided or carried out their main activity in France for more than 12 months in the 3 years prior to the application deadline.

Disciplines

  • Open to all disciplines in Social Sciences and Humanities (SSH) and research fields interfacing with SSH.
  • Applications from artists meeting eligibility requirements are welcome.

Administrative Requirements

  • Complete application forms and all requested documents must be submitted via the online platform.
  • Applications exceeding length criteria or written in a language other than English will not be considered.
  • Late submissions are not accepted.

Steps to Apply:

  3. Submit the following documents (in English only):
    • Completed FIAS online application form.
    • Detailed curriculum vitae, including a list of publications and contact details of three scholars familiar with your academic work.
    • Copy of the PhD degree (PDF format).
    • Detailed research proposal (maximum 5 pages + 1-page bibliography).
    • Selection of three to five publications (articles or book chapters).
    • Up to two letters of recommendation (optional).
