2025 Feminist Economics Summer School
The Institute for Economic Justice (IEJ) is pleased to invite applications for the 2025 Feminist Economics Summer School, taking place in person from 01 to 05 September 2025 in Johannesburg, South Africa.
📖 About The Summer School
The Feminist Economics Summer School aims to bring together economists, practitioners, and researchers to explore feminist perspectives in economics. The program strongly encourages applications from candidates across the African continent, with priority given to those based in Southern Africa.
Applications are particularly welcomed from:
- Women
- Individuals from underrepresented communities, including:
- Marginalized ethnic groups
- LGBTQI+ individuals
- Persons with disabilities
- Those underrepresented by religion, geographic origin, or employment status

✅ Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Hold a degree in economics, environmental sciences, social sciences, or politics.
- Be an economist, practitioner, or researcher in feminist economics.
📅 Application Date and Process
- Applications Open: 15 June 2025
- Application Deadline: 30 July 2025
Important Notes:
- Applications will close earlier if the number of submissions reaches 200, so early submission is strongly encouraged.
- Applications will be assessed on a rolling basis, and successful candidates will be notified during the final week of July 2025.
- Due to limited capacity, only shortlisted applicants will be contacted. If you do not hear from them by 31 August 2025, please consider your application unsuccessful.
