π About the Programme
The Blue Book Traineeship Programme offers two types of traineeships:
- Administrative Traineeship
- Translation Traineeship (with the Directorate-General for Translation - DGT)
Trainees will work across various services and agencies of the European Commission, primarily in Brussels, Luxembourg, or other EU locations.
Key Responsibilities
- Attending and organizing meetings, working groups, and public hearings
- Researching, drafting, and editing documentation (e.g., reports, consultations)
- Answering citizens' inquiries
- Supporting project management
- Translating, revising translations, or researching terminology

β Eligibility Criteria
The programme is open to university graduates who meet the following requirements:

Educational Qualification
- Must have completed a standard 3-year higher education degree (minimum EQF 6 level) corresponding to a complete Bachelorβs cycle or equivalent.
- Required documents:
- Diplomas or certificates with final grades clearly indicated
- Proof of minimum EQF 6 level

Work Experience
- Must have no prior work experience exceeding 6 weeks in any EU institution, body, agency, delegation, or with Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) or Advocates General at the Court of Justice of the European Union (EUCJ).

Language Proficiency
- Administrative Traineeship:
- Very good knowledge of two EU official languages, one of which must be a working language (English, French, or German) at C1 or C2 level.
- A second EU language at B2 level or higher.
- For non-EU nationals, only one procedural language is required at C1 or C2 level.
- Translation Traineeship (DGT):
- Ability to translate into your main/target language (normally your mother tongue) from two other official EU languages:
- Your main/target language must be one of the official EU languages.
- Your first source language must be a working language of the EU (English, French, or German) at C level or mother tongue level.
- Your second source language can be any official EU language with at least B2-level proficiency.
