The Earth Journalism Network (EJN) is hosting a virtual media workshop in late August-September 2025 for business and finance journalists from Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, and Thailand. This workshop aims to strengthen climate-focused reporting on environmental accountability, financial and industry solutions, and informing public demand for change in Asia's business sector.

π About the Workshop
The workshop will provide participants with a deeper understanding of:
- How businesses contribute to climate change through carbon-intensive practices and the need for greater transparency.
- The economic costs of climate change and the private sector's role in bridging the climate finance gap.
- Existing policies to hold businesses accountable for their role in climate change and mitigating its impacts.
- Technicalities of ESG, Net Zero, carbon and plastic offsetting, and the just transition.
- Corporate greenwashing and gaps in ESG frameworks (e.g., opaque carbon pricing, voluntary disclosure of climate-related risks).
- Reporting on solutions that drive Net Zero and a just transition.
- Pathways to transition toward a green, fair, and inclusive economy, including policy support for blended finance and investment in innovative solutions.
- Domestic and international financial resources and mechanisms for mitigation, adaptation, and loss and damage.

Participants who attend all four days will be eligible to apply for a story grant to produce journalistic work following the workshop.

Communication Stipends:
A limited number of stipends will be provided to participants with unstable internet connections in remote areas. Applicants must indicate this need in their application. -
Certificate of Completion:
Participants who attend all sessions will receive a certificate of completion from EJN.
β Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants must be from one of the four target countries: Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, or Thailand.
- Applications will only be accepted in English, Thai, and Indonesian. Applicants must have a working understanding of these languages. Simultaneous language interpretation will be provided.
- Open to journalists working in any medium (online, print, television, radio) and other media practitioners with experience covering business, finance, and/or the economy.
- Experience with climate and energy reporting is welcome but not required.
- Applications are encouraged from:
- Women
- Rural and Indigenous journalists
- Early and mid-career journalists
- Both staff reporters and freelancers reporting for community-based, local, national, and international media organizations are welcome to apply.
- Applicants must disclose the use of generative AI tools, if any, in their proposals. EJN reserves the right to disqualify applicants found engaging in unethical or improper professional conduct.
