📖 About DELT-Her Initiative

The Developing Engineering Leaders Through Her (DELT-Her) initiative aims to create opportunities for women in engineering by supporting innovative engineering ideas. These ideas will be mentored and developed into startup companies.

The initiative also seeks to inspire school-age girls across Nigeria by showcasing success stories from its first phase, encouraging them to consider engineering as a lifelong career. DELT-Her draws inspiration from global projects such as the Anita Borg Institute, Girl Up! at the UN Foundation, and the Applied Science Technologists and Technicians of British Columbia.

Objectives of the Initiative:

• Address Gender Imbalance: Sponsor innovative ideas of young female engineers to tackle the gender gap in engineering and technology in Nigeria.
• Foster Inclusivity: Promote a more inclusive and diverse engineering practice landscape in Nigeria.
• Build Collaborative Networks: Engage tertiary institutions, businesses, and industry leaders to create a supportive environment for women in engineering.
• Inspire Future Generations: Make female engineering success stories visible to inspire the next generation of female engineers in Nigeria.

✅ Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for the DELT-Her Initiative, applicants must meet the following requirements:

• Hold at least a bachelor's degree or its equivalent.
• Be aged 23 to 45 years.
• Have developed a proposal for innovative ideas in engineering and formed a team for implementation.
• Ensure that each team comprises at least 60% female participants to qualify for funding.
