Climate Investigations Training Scholarship 2026
The Centre for Investigative Journalism (CIJ) is now accepting applications for its Climate Investigations Training Scholarship 2026. This program is designed to equip journalists with practical investigative skills to address the climate crisis.
📖 About the CIJ Climate Investigations Training Scholarship
This scholarship builds on the success of CIJ's Open Climate Reporting Initiative (OCRI), which trained over 700 journalists across 58 countries in Africa, Asia, and the Americas.
In 2025, CIJ successfully ran three editions of the program, training 210 participants from regions including Africa, Australia, Europe, Asia, and the Americas. The initiative has become one of CIJ's most sought-after training programs, helping journalists gain essential skills to investigate and report on climate change.

Selected participants will receive:
- Full funding worth up to £2,638 to participate in the spring run of the CIC, scheduled from 11 March to 7 May, 2026.

✅ Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Be an early-mid career journalist living and working in one of the following regions:
- Africa
- Latin America (South & Central America and the Caribbean countries)
- West Asia (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Cyprus, Georgia, Iraq, Israel, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Oman, Palestine, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Türkiye, UAE, and Yemen)
- South Asia (Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Iran, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka)
- Be an investigative journalist with experience in environmental or climate issues, or demonstrate a strong interest in environmental or climate reporting.
- Have advanced or professional working proficiency in English (reading, listening, and speaking).
- Commit to attending all modules of the CIC program.
