CCAC Food & Nutrition Challenge 2025
📝 About CCAC Food & Nutrition Challenge
The CCAC Food & Nutrition Challenge 2025 aims to address super pollutant emissions from food systems globally. Food production and consumption contribute significantly to emissions of black carbon, methane, nitrous oxide, and HFCs, while also being impacted by climate change and air pollution.
Key issues include:
- Food wastage: Over one-third of food produced globally is lost or wasted, decomposing in landfills and negatively impacting human health, soil fertility, and biodiversity.
- Organic waste management: Robust systems are needed to capture organic waste for agricultural inputs, preserve soil health, and support food security.
- Bioeconomy approaches: Incorporating biodegradable waste to replace fossil-origin products and fuels.
The challenge seeks innovative cross-sector proposals to tackle these issues, improve food security, reduce greenhouse gases, and enhance resilience.
