CARI New Product Development Program
The GIZ-MOVE, in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade, and Investment in Nigeria, invites applications from qualified Agri-SMEs/Food Processors experienced in fields such as Rice and Cashew processing, Rice & Cashew pastry, Gastronomy, Agri-food, Cosmetics, and Health.
📖 About the Program
The CARI New Product Development Program aims to support selected processors in developing new products using cashew and rice (or their by-products) and launching these products through a market exhibition organized by the MOVE project.
New Product Categories:
- Products new to the market
- Products new to the business
- Minor modifications of existing products
- Completely innovative products
- Improvement or revision of existing products
🎁 Benefits of the Program
- Funding Support: Selected processors will receive financial support to cover costs associated with product development and launching at the market exhibition.
- Preference: Applicants with a reasonable budget will be prioritized.
✅ Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Be motivated and willing to innovate in the rice and cashew value chains.
- Operate in Nigeria.
- Be a legally recognized business (valid business registration, permits, etc.).
- Have at least three (3) years of experience in fields such as rice or cashew pastry, gastronomy processing, agri-food, cosmetics, or health.
- Have prior plans to develop a new product using rice/cashew and their by-products.
- Propose a novel product (new to the business).
- Submit a reasonable budget based on the product type.
- Have existing marketing channels (e.g., social media, direct orders, supermarkets).
- Propose at least one customer-oriented new product (edible or non-edible, combustible or non-combustible).
- Be willing to share product recipes and collaborate on future monitoring and evaluation (M&E) reporting.

Submission Requirements:
Applicants must submit:
- A concept note/proposal for the planned new product(s).
- A financial proposal detailing the cost to bring the product to the exhibition/launching stage.
