The fellowship supports early-stage entrepreneurs whose ventures address inequities, particularly those who are closely connected to the problems they aim to solve and the communities they serve. ๐ Benefits of Camelback Fellowship
The Camelback Fellowship offers support through:
- Coaching: 1:1 relationship with a coach who creates a roadmap specifically focused on helping you reach established goals.
- Capital: Camelback invests in each organization they support, tailoring funding levels for different stages of acceptance for each track:
- Ventures in a "startup" phase receive $40,000 in the "friends and family" round.
- For-profits and hybrids receive funding as a SAFE note or alternative funding vehicle.
- Nonprofits and schools receive funding as grants.
- Connections: Meetings with investors, potential partners, customers, and content experts.
- Community: A tight-knit experience through the entire cohort and within tracks, as well as an extended Camelback family (including past and present Fellows, Startup Coaches, and supporters).
- Curriculum: An intense program designed to empower undervalued entrepreneurs.
โ Eligibility Criteria
The Camelback Fellowship supports early-stage entrepreneurs dedicated to addressing inequities in the education and technology sectors. Eligible applicants must:
- Be over the age of 18.
- Be able to commit approximately 10 hours per week for 16 weeks to Fellowship activities.
- Hold a leadership role (Founder, Co-founder, CEO, or Executive Director) in their venture.
- Reside in the United States or a U.S. Territory.
- Have proficiency in English.
Note: Fellows are not required to relocate; the greatest impact comes from staying and serving your community.
๐ Application Process
The Camelback Fellowship application process involves two key rounds designed to get to know you, your venture, and your potential for impact.
Round 1: Written & Video Questions
- Submit the Written Application:
- Includes short-answer questions covering the basics about your venture and yourself as a founder.
- Longer, in-depth responses diving deeper into your venture model and approach.
- Video Submissions:
- Submit 1-2 videos, including a 3-minute pitch that highlights your vision and what drives your work.
Evaluation
- Applications are carefully reviewed by evaluators.
- About 15% of applicants will be selected as Finalists.
- Applicants who do not advance can receive personalized written feedback to support their growth and future applications.
Round 2: Virtual Interview
- 75-Minute Video Call:
- Conducted by members of the Camelback team and network, including Fellowship alumni, stakeholders, and coaches.
- Conversation focuses on:
- Your leadership skills and mindset as a founder.
- Your understanding of your ventureโs target market and revenue model.
- The social impact your venture aims to achieve.
- Preparation and Support:
- Camelback provides resources to help you prepare for this round.
Final Deliberation
- The team thoroughly evaluates every applicant and application to determine the final selection of Fellows.
- Up to 16 Fellows will be chosen for the program.
- Candidates who are not selected can receive feedback to refine their ventures and applications for future opportunities.
