The ongoing climate, environmental, and social crisis can only be tackled through ambitious action and steadfast commitment in the face of challenges. Against a backdrop of de-prioritization of a just transition, the Silver Rose Awards celebrate individuals, communities, and movements who continue to push for social justice, climate action, and environmental protection despite political challenges.
This year’s awards focus on advancing a socially just transition in the face of political challenges. Nominations are open for civil society, trade unions, activists, citizens, or politicians who have distinguished themselves in their work and dedication to ensuring a transformative transition that is socially fair and just.
At SOLIDAR, a just transition is understood as combining social justice with climate action and environmental protection in a mutually reinforcing and democratic way. It fosters societal transformation within planetary boundaries and is based on social and civil dialogue.
By nominating individuals or groups who embody these principles, you amplify their impact and recognize their dedication to creating a better world. This is more than just an award – it’s an opportunity to showcase inspiring examples and success stories of impactful campaigning, advocacy, and movement building for a just transition.
📝 Eligibility Criteria
We are looking for initiatives that:
- Carry out campaigning, social or political actions, or political journalism that highlight the importance of a just transition and the risks of excluding it from political priorities.
- Successfully undertake advocacy and shape policies, legislation, or decision-making related to a just transition in their contexts.
- Contribute to movement building around a just transition through community organizing, alliance and network development, or activism.

Awardees will receive the following benefits:
- Travel and accommodation costs covered to attend the award ceremony in December 2025 in Brussels.
- Their story will be published on SOLIDAR’s website and social media channels.
- A tailor-made agenda will be set up for the awardee to ensure visibility and liaison with EU actors and Brussels-based stakeholders relevant to their endeavors.
- Their work will be featured and promoted by SOLIDAR and SOLIDAR Foundation across digital networks and partner platforms.
🛠 Requirements
Nominees must:
- Be part of civil society organizations, including social movements, trade unions, grassroots organizations, policy advocates, community and voluntary organizations, independent journalists, etc.
- Engage in campaigning, social or political actions, political journalism, advocacy, or movement building.
- Bring visibility to the importance of a just transition, positively shape decision-making, or succeed in community organizing, alliance and network development, or activism around a just transition.
📅 Application Date and Process
Nominators should:
- Present a compelling argument about the impact of the nominee’s work on a just transition.
- Outline the nominee’s contribution to visibility, decision-making, or movement building linked to a just transition.
- Demonstrate concrete achievements tied to the nominee’s work, such as case studies, testimonials, or success stories.
