🏫 About UNC Hussman School of Journalism and Media Bloomberg Journalism Programs

The Bloomberg Journalism Program has two primary aims:

  1. To introduce current and future journalism students to the dynamic field of business journalism.
  2. To increase diversity among journalists reporting on business.

Participants will gain unparalleled access to a leading financial news organization and interact with some of the most influential people in the industry.

✅ Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the program, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Be university students with a strong interest in pursuing a career in journalism (not currently studying business journalism).
  • Be rising juniors or seniors.
  • Students from diverse backgrounds, perspectives, and lived experiences are encouraged to apply.
  • Full-time international students studying in the U.S. are welcome to apply, but permission from their institution is required to pay for travel costs and issue stipends. Permission is not always granted. International students should consult with their campus’ international student representative.

📅 Application Date and Process

How to Apply:

Students interested in the program should complete an online application. Finalists will be contacted for an interview via video conferencing after the application closing date.

Required Materials:

Applicants must upload the following materials as part of their application:

  • A resume
  • An unofficial transcript
  • One writing sample (500 words): Identify your professional role model in journalism. What attributes do you admire most about this person and why?
  • Contact information for one faculty reference
