BASE Fellows Fall 2026 - Empowering Black Leadership in AI Safety and Governance
The BASE Fellowship is a 13-week, part-time remote program designed to develop Black researchers, practitioners, and leaders in AI Safety, AI Security, and AI Governance. The program begins in September 2026 and concludes in December 2026.

The BASE Fellowship aims to empower Black leadership in the rapidly evolving field of AI safety and governance. It provides participants with the tools, mentorship, and experience necessary to make impactful contributions to the field.

✅ Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Identify as Black (in the sense of the Black diaspora) or come from the Black diaspora globally.
- Demonstrate a strong interest in AI safety, governance, ethics, security, or related fields. Applicants will be asked to explain why they want to join the BASE Fellowship and how they envision contributing to inclusive and responsible AI.
- Be available to commit to a 12-week, part-time remote program (4 weeks of training + 8 weeks of project work).
- Be willing to engage in mentoring, networking events, and community building as part of a global cohort.
- (Optional but beneficial) Have some background in AI, data science, security, policy, or a related discipline. Early-career learners are also encouraged to apply.
