๐ About the AMEL Institute Summer Program
The AMEL Institute is a fully online academy that provides free training to young activists from the Middle East and Africa. This program is ideal for young leaders who are:
- Actively addressing discrimination, inequalities, injustices, persecution, human rights violations, and conflicts in their communities, countries, or regions.
- Aspiring activists with a vision to create positive change.
The program aims to equip participants with the knowledge, skills, and networks necessary to carry out activism more safely and effectively.

๐ Program Details
The AMEL Institute Summer Program is an 8-week interactive online leadership program taught by experienced activists, seasoned practitioners, and top experts from prestigious institutions like Stanford and Harvard. Participants will gain knowledge and skills in the following areas:
- Human rights history and advocacy
- Activism self-care and safety, including digital security
- Genocide processes/prevention, with case studies on the Holocaust and Yazidi
- Conflict transformation and non-violent movement building
- Democratic development
- Communicating activism causes, including using new media tools
- Gender mainstreaming, cross-cultural communication, and building allyship across the Middle East and Africa
Program Structure:
- Duration: 8 weeks (6 weeks of lessons + introductory and conclusion weeks)
- Time Commitment: Approximately 2 hours per week
- Language: English (with some translations and assistance available in Arabic, French, and other languages)
Participants will engage in video lessons, online discussions, quizzes, and assignments. Upon completing all program requirements, participants will earn a certificate.
