AIReKEMA Research Fellowships 2026
Carleton University is currently accepting applications for its AIReKEMA Research Fellowships 2026. This program is a collaborative initiative between Carleton University and regional academic hubs in East, West, and Southern Africa. Selected fellows will conduct original research focused on the role of Indigenous knowledge systems and refugee-led initiatives in managing migration and fostering cooperation in border regions.

β Eligibility Criteria
Successful candidates must:
- Be a postgraduate student (MA or PhD) or an early career scholar/community leader with a proven record of engagement in the research themes central to this project.
- Have a record of engaging with policy and program issues relating to migration and refugee issues in border areas.
- Demonstrate a vision for how their experience as a Research Fellow will enhance their ability to advance innovative approaches to improving migration outcomes and fostering peacebuilding in border areas.

Applicants must submit the following documents to AIReKEMA@carleton.ca by June 1, 2026:
- Cover Letter
- Curriculum Vitae (CV)
- Research Proposal (Maximum 3 pages, single-spaced):
- Articulate the research puzzle to be addressed.
- Explain the significance of the research in relation to the projectβs goals.
- Discuss the relationship between the proposed research and existing literature.
- Detail the research question that will guide the research.
- Outline the methodology to be used.
- Provide a timeline for completing the research by January 2027.
- References: Names and contact details for three referees.
