✅ Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the 98th Academy Awards International Film Award, films must meet the following requirements:

  1. Be a feature film (over 40 minutes) produced outside the United States with a predominantly (more than 50%) non-English dialogue track.
    • English subtitles must be accurate and legible.
  2. Eligible formats include narrative, animation, and documentary feature films.
  3. Creative control of the film must be primarily in the hands of Canadian citizens, residents, or individuals with refugee/asylum status in Canada.
  4. The film must have been released in Canada between October 1, 2024, and September 30, 2025, with a minimum seven-day consecutive theatrical release in a commercial motion picture theater.
  5. The film must be advertised and exploited during its theatrical release in a manner considered normal for theatrical feature distribution practices.
  6. Films that have received non-theatrical public exhibition or distribution before their qualifying theatrical release are not eligible. This includes:
    • Broadcast and cable television
    • PPV/VOD
    • DVD distribution
    • In-flight airline distribution
    • Internet transmission

📝 Application Process

Producers interested in participating in the selection process must:

  1. Complete the online application form.
  2. Provide a downloadable screener link for the film.

Films will be uploaded to a secure screening platform for the jury to review. Please note:

  • A film may only be submitted once for consideration.
  • Films submitted in the previous year's call for entries are not eligible.

  • Downloadable screener link to the film with English subtitles (Mandatory)
  • Promotional still (high resolution, 300 DPI, horizontal, without any writing or logo) (Mandatory)
  • EPK (Mandatory)
  • Trailer (if available)
  • Film poster (if available)
  • Downloadable link to the film trailer (preferably with English subtitles) (if available)
  • Downloadable link to a 3-minute excerpt of the film (if available)
