Applications are now open for the 5th German Italian Young Leaders Dialogue - Spinelli Forum 2025. This initiative provides a platform for young leaders from Germany and Italy to discuss and shape the future of the European Union (EU).

📖 About the Dialogue

The German Italian Young Leaders Dialogue - Spinelli Forum is a joint initiative by the German Federal Foreign Office and the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, in partnership with the Institute for European Politics (IEP) and the Italian Institute for International Political Studies (ISPI).

This program offers young leaders from diverse fields such as politics, business, academia, civil society, media, and culture the opportunity to:

  • Discuss challenges faced by the German-Italian partnership.
  • Shape the future of the EU.
  • Join a lasting network of German and Italian young leaders.

Key Dates:

  • Virtual Kick-Off Event: 19 September 2025
  • Online Workshops: 6 October and 21 October 2025 (afternoons)
  • In-Person Conference: 27–28 October 2025, Berlin

🎯 Thematic Focus

The EU and its member states face numerous challenges requiring close cooperation. Key topics include:

  • Economic Growth and Social Cohesion
  • Defence and Security Policy
  • Climate and Energy Policy
  • Artificial Intelligence Regulation and Governance

Participants will work in four groups to:

  • Discuss critical aspects of the EU's internal and external capacity to act.
  • Understand differences in perception between Germany and Italy.
  • Develop policy proposals for joint European action.

✅ Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Nationality: Open to German and Italian young leaders.
  • Age: Between 25 and 35 years (preference for candidates aged 25–30).
  • Education: First university degree (BA or MA) or equivalent vocational qualification.
  • Expertise: Strong interest in European cooperation, particularly in:
    • Defence and security policy.
    • Economics.
    • Artificial intelligence.
    • Climate and energy policy.
  • Language: Excellent command of English.

Additional Notes:

  • Participation in all events (virtual and in-person) is compulsory.
  • In case of last-minute absence due to health or professional reasons, written justification (e.g., medical certificate) must be provided.

📝 Application Process

Applications must be submitted via the official application platform and include the following:

  1. Completed Application Form.
  2. CV: Maximum two pages, detailing education and relevant work experience.
  3. Short Video: Maximum 3 minutes, introducing yourself and your motivation to participate.
  4. Short Text: Maximum 2,500 characters, outlining:
    • What the EU should prioritize.
    • How your country can contribute to your preferred working group:
      • European Economic Growth and Social Cohesion.
      • European Defence and Security Policy.
      • European Climate and Energy Policy.
      • European Artificial Intelligence Regulation and Governance.
