โœ… Eligibility Criteria

Young professionals from developing countries (DAC countries) who meet all of the following requirements:

  • Academic Degree: Not older than six years at the time of application (October 2025).
  • Professional Experience: Minimum of 2 years of relevant professional experience (post-Bachelor, at the time of application). Internships and voluntary work are not accepted.
    • Employment in academia (e.g., teaching or research at a university) is generally not considered relevant work experience, except in very exceptional cases.
  • Academic Performance: Above average (upper third).
  • Residency: Having resided in Germany for no more than 15 months before applying.

Special Note:
Candidates who already hold a master's degree must provide a well-argued case for funding another postgraduate degree.

Application Phase:

  • Winter Semester 2026/27: July 1 to October 15, 2025

Steps to Apply:

  1. Complete the Online Eligibility Assessment (OEA).

    • If unsure about fulfilling the admission requirements, fill in the OEA. Within one week, you will receive an email confirming your eligibility to apply for the program and scholarship.
    • OEAs will be processed only until October 1, 2025.
  2. Prepare all required documents (see below) as a single PDF file and upload them to the online application form (link to be published on July 1, 2025).

  3. Referees must send their recommendation letters directly to info-meg@unr.uni-freiburg.de.

Mandatory Documents:

  1. DAAD Application Form

    • Ensure all information matches your letter of motivation, CV, and other applications.
  2. MEG Online Application Form (link available July 1, 2025).

  3. Letter of Motivation

  4. CV

    • Format: EUROPASS (mandatory).
    • Full CV without unexplained gaps (explain gaps longer than 3 months).
    • Reverse chronological order, including the date of issue.
  5. Transcript of Records

    • Original and certified translation (if necessary).
    • Must include final weighted average/CGPA and grading scale (numeric).
  6. University Degree Certificate

    • Original and certified translation (if necessary).
  7. Certificate for Professional Experience

    • Work certificate(s) for at least two years of relevant professional experience at the time of application.
    • Must include exact dates of employment, written on headed paper, with original or digitally certified signature, date, and stamp.
  8. Two Recommendation Letters

    • One from your current employer (DAAD requirement).
    • One from an academic teacher or supervisor (MEG requirement).
    • Letters must follow the Guideline for Referees.
  9. English Language Certificate

    • Accepted tests: TOEFL (iBT 95 points), IELTS (Band 7), Cambridge (Level C1), or PTE (Pearson Academic, score 76).
    • Exceptions: Native English speakers or applicants who completed university studies in English-speaking countries.
  10. Signed DAAD Checklist

    • Print, sign with a pen, and scan again (digital signatures not accepted).
  11. APS Certificate

    • Required for applicants from China, India, and Vietnam.

    4. Academic Transcript
    5. Degree Certificate
    6. Proof of Work Experience

  • Notification of Results: By the end of January 2026.
  • Interview: Short-listed candidates will be interviewed.
