Overview

For the first time, the World Archaeological Congress will be held in Australia. WAC-10 offers a unique opportunity to collaborate with diverse colleagues and friends from around the globe and contribute to global policy-making. Participants from more than 70 countries are expected to attend.

Cultural Program

A cultural program will run parallel to the academic program, showcasing the diversity and richness of Indigenous Australian cultures. This provides an opportunity to learn directly from Aboriginal teachers. Attendees are also encouraged to explore the stunning landscapes of Australia’s Northern Territory.

Congress Highlights

  • Diverse Academic Program: Includes all forms of archaeology.
  • Cultural Festival: Showcases the visual and performing arts of Indigenous peoples in Australia and globally.
  • Guided Tours: Visit archaeological sites in dramatic landscapes, led by traditional custodians and archaeology site specialists.
  • Aboriginal Teachers: Share stories, artworks, and ancient traditions spanning more than 65,000 years.
  • Social Events and Policy-Making: Engage in social events and contribute to policy discussions.
  • Support for Participants: Dedicated support for Indigenous participants, students, and individuals from low-income countries.
  • Publication Opportunity: Selected papers will be published by Routledge in the One World Archaeology book series.

Join us at WAC-10 to engage with a global community and explore the rich cultural heritage of Indigenous Australia.
