Dr. Ginette Okoye (née Hinds) is a Professor and Chair of Dermatology at Howard University College of Medicine. Her areas of clinical and research expertise include:

  • Cutaneous disorders affecting people with pigmented skin
  • Hidradenitis suppurativa
  • Cutaneous T-cell lymphoma
  • Alopecia

Educational Background

  • BS Degree: Barry University
  • Medical Degree: Columbia University’s College of Physicians & Surgeons
  • Dermatology Residency: Yale University (Chief Resident)

Publications and Awards

Dr. Okoye has published numerous scientific papers and a textbook on the science of textured hair, titled "The Fundamentals of Ethnic Hair." She has been recognized by the American Academy of Dermatology with several awards:
