Overview
Makerere University’s Department of Social Work, in collaboration with the East African Social Work Regional Resource Centre (EASWRRC) and the Association of Schools of Social Work in Africa (ASSWA), is hosting an International Conference on Social Work and Social Development.
Objectives
The conference aims to:
- Galvanize academic knowledge, debate, and critical inquiry.
- Engage on topical issues of equity, social justice, and inclusion.
- Align discussions within the framework of attaining the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
- Highlight practice knowledge as experienced by development actors globally.
Organizers
This conference is organized under the auspices of the NORAD-supported RESILIENT Project. The project has been implemented since January 2021 by a consortium comprising:

- University of Rwanda
- Institute of Social Work, Tanzania
- University of Agder, Norway
